Hi Everyone! My name is Andrew Zbar. I am a retired Professor of Surgery who has been teaching University and College Anatomy for the last 40 years. I have been an Examiner for many Colleges of Surgery over the last 3 decades. Since November 2020 I have introduced something new in the teaching of something old.Let's face it Human Anatomy is one of the oldest subjects around and yet it seems hard to learn and even harder to retain. The COVID pandemic has exposed a lot of the problems with anatomy teaching at all levels (undergraduate and postgraduate) and in many disciplines so I thought I would start a detailed anatomy podcast which shares an expectation of how I think anatomy should be taught and what standard I expect. The best way to do that is to include the anatomy in context. Let us always ask ourselves what is the meaning of what we are learning and why is it important? For that I aim to contextualize the anatomy you learn into the clinic and the OR and along the way include the history of its development. Now we have been going all year and there appears to be a lot of interest from a slow but steady and dedicated following. With these added funds (for many a cup of coffee a month!) I aim to record in a professional studio with its attendant costs and to begin to market podcast anatomy more broadly. If we are more widely supported we will convert into an audiovisual channel with animation but that's for later.
Teaching Anatomy Better
Well let's start small, yes? I want to see if people are as enthusiastic about anatoimy as I am (after 40+years!).. Anatomy is an historical subject so let's remember its history, don't discard it. If we can initially get funded then I suggest we improve tha audio quality by moving into a professional studio..but that costs money (actiually about 500$ per episode).. but once we start rolling we can convert this into an audiovisual channel with ani9mated imagery... but I want to crawl before I run!

The dondillon's Podcast 2022-02-21
I am a massage therapist of 30 years experience, and I'm diving deeper into anatomy to supplement my learning figure illustration and ecorche as an avocation (now with children grown and time to spare). I love this broadcast! Historical context, the personalities behind the evolution of dissection and illustration, and Dr. Zbar's sage voice and experience...I never thought I could learn more anatomy through an auditory medium. Love it! Please pitch in and support.ANATOPOD - The Anatomy Podcast 2021-11-21
