Support the stories behind the work
In Pieces with R. Land began with a simple idea: slow down and spend real time with individual works of art.
So much of how we encounter art today is fast- images passing by, stories compressed into headlines, context disappearing. R. Land and I wanted to create a space where he could revisit his work with honesty and reflection, and where listeners could hear the full journey behind pieces that have moved through culture in unexpected ways.
Each episode focuses on a single work, how it was made, how it circulated, and what it meant to the people who encountered it. Some pieces began as jokes or experiments. Some became cultural touchstones. All of them reveal something about creativity, risk, and the strange life art takes on once it leaves the artist’s hands.
This podcast is independently produced with care and curiosity. Listener support helps make the time and space for these conversations possible- supporting research, production, editing, and the thoughtful storytelling that brings each episode together.
If these conversations resonate with you, your support helps keep the work in motion and allows us to continue exploring art one piece at a time.
