I have given my life to music and the arts. That means I've never had a real job.
As a teenager, I was the kid punk rock promoter in DC, booking bands like Black Flag and Minor Threat. Then I moved to New York and became a top club DJ, best known for my sound designs for designer Stephen Sprouse. During that time, I wrote, edited, and even helped publish some of the top underground rock and fashion mags of the 80s and 90s. In 2001, I authored a successful book relating to my punk days called American Hardcore. My friend and I turned it into a documentary film that played major festivals like Sundance and Toronto and got theatrically released by Sony Pictures Classics. I have since written four other well-received books.
The process continues. I recently launched a podcast network with four thought-provoking monthly podcasts: spearheaded by the American Hardcore Podcast. I have a beautiful new book out this week, as well as two nearly-completed books and one almost-finished doc film. All this work is being done under the umbrella of the Blush Media Network. There is no funding or branding for this enterprise, just lots of hard work and powerful ideas. So yes, I need your help!
Funding Great Podcasts, Books, and Films!
Creating great-looking content with a promotional buzz on a shoe-string budget requires some nominal funding assistance.
The first goal, funding the barebone costs of the weekly podcasts, for $1000/month ($250 per episode), goes toward video editing and boosted social media posts.
The second goal, an additional $1000/month, would greatly accelerate book writing, research, and production, in order to deliver one comprehensive book per year.
The final goal, to help create these low-budget, high-quality doc film projects, would require $1,000 more per month. For those seeking IMDB film producer credit, that would require a $20,000 minimum investment.
