Since 2005 Star Wars Action News has been striving to bring you the best Star Wars collecting coverage.
You’ve relied on us to deliver more than an hour of podcasting news and reviews every other week in audio and video format. You’ve counted on us to deliver exclusive coverage from the floor of major collecting events like Toy Fair International New York and Comic Con International in San Diego. And you’ve supported our charitable efforts, joining us for the annual Star Wars Fan Breakfast to raise money for Rancho Obi-Wan and taking part in our Toys for Tots events during the holidays.
On the air you hear Marjorie, Arnie, and our rotating cast of reporters. But behind the scenes there are more than two-dozen people working hard to deliver the Star Wars podcast worthy of its audience. Our photographers are shooting pictures for the video podcasts, our audio editors are keeping the shows tight and clean, our graphic designers are creating logos for weekly podcasts and special events, and our contributors are reaching out to toy companies for exclusive giveaways and breaking news for our listeners.
When you factor in the research, recording, photography, and editing, each Star Wars Action News episode takes 10 or more hours to produce. Even more time goes into our event shows at Star Wars Celebration, Toy Fair and Comic-Con, where some team members work without sleep to ensure these shows are of the quality that you’ve come to expect. The workload has required some sacrifice, as you know, when we cut the podcast from weekly to bi-weekly.
To put the effort into dollars, if our team were paid minimum wage each episode would cost more than $500 to produce.
So we’re looking to you, our dedicated audience, to help keep Star Wars Action News growing. With your support we will continue to upgrade our software and equipment, we will be able to pay our staff and hire new team members to provide wider coverage, and with enough help we can bring you the show you deserve every week.
NO MONEY PLEDGED IS USED TO BUY COLLECTIBLES FOR THE HOSTS OR THE STAFF.
100% of the money raised will go into the show. It will be used to compensate our current team, keeping them motivated to deliver their best work -- as well as to bring in new talent for our shows. It will be used to upgrade our equipment, allowing even more full motion video and higher quality downloads. It will be used to pay for server costs and storage costs.
