Dice and Pixels is a light, humorous weekly Australian based podcast set up by Dutch Potato Gaming and Vocal Horde discussing indie games, tabletop, local gaming events and interviews with key gaming figures and independent game developers.
We established the podcast in 2016 to serve three purposes ;
1) To provide an avenue to promote, highlight, review and feature interviews with indie game developers in the Brisbane and Greater Australian community, to help bring exposure to both games and developers who have no formal marketing avenues, in a country where indie development is a very undersupported industry
2) To keep Brisbane based talent in Brisbane, greater Australian game development talent in Australia and prevent the max exodus of developers overseas.
3) To provide an Australian perspective and local podcast, news and video relevant to Aus, and above all to entertain gamers with something extremely light, funny and regular (like a cucumber)
Vocal Horde is a small team of voice actors and musicians who provide music and voice acting for video games, and Dutch Potato Gaming runs the majority of official structured Dungeons and Dragons tournaments throughout Queensland. Together we're passionate about games, excited about the potential to bring exposure to the gaming community, and host gaming centric video game and table events throughout South East Queensland.
From here, we are beginning the process (separately to this) of raising funds for an indie game exhibition, similar to a smaller version of E3 specifically featuring independently developed australian video and tabletop games.
But... it all starts with a first step, the podcast. Boost and help the developers, show the games, get the community involved and supporting indie game developers right here in Aus, and bring a hell of a lot of fun to the gaming corner of our sunburnt little land
Funding allows us to get much better guests, start our vodcasts, cover exclusive events, host a series of community events and indie game showcases and much more!
Any and all funds raised will go directly back into the show, hosting events, forthcoming YouTube side-series shows and supporting and promoting the Aus game industry
The Launch of the Vodcasting
In order to start producing our full vodcast series, featuring live playthroughs of indie table top games with special guests and local gaming media and notable people, we are looking to source an initial $500 for additional high quality HD video cameras.
We already have a studio secured, and our audio studio equipment, including one HD camera ready for the vodcasting. However in order to properly provide a high quality vodcast, we need two additional cameras.
We've got two video producers, an audio technician, lighting and studio gear ready to go. It's now just down to the video equipment.
On reaching this goal we will be producing, in addition to the Podcast which will continue on a weekly basis, vodcasts with live playthroughs of indie tabletop games and video games alongside their creators and developers will be produced on a regular basis (monthly)
Note ; this is a once-off goal so as soon as we hit it, we are away! Any ongoing funding will be used to cover exclusive events, host community events and get even better guests over time

On reaching $1000, this enables us to source higher quality equipment and pro boom mic gear that will not only allow a higher quality show, but also provide the opportunity for us to vodcast onsite and produce a more polished series.
If we reach this goal, we'll also hasten (and make more regular) our videogame live indie playthroughs
Creme de la creme with Pixels and Dice
If we are able to source $5000, our website we are already in discussions with potential hosts to produce a series of additional podcasts focusing on specific subjects, geek culture, D&D and more.
This will allow us to significantly upgrade our website and systems so we can provide a variety of video series on everything from cosplay to miniatures.
Yes... yes i know what you're saying, 'isnt that just geek and sundry but in and about Australia' and well.. yes.. ok fine, yes, that's exactly it :)
In addition, we will produce a full length professionally mastered and filmed music video clip parody.
If we exceed the $5000 goal, we will produce these in an ongoing manner, and will also produce a musical episode of the show. Because thats, just, insane.
