El Tucsonan view podcast

Well hello. Long time no see…

I constantly hear people saying that Tucson is boring. I disagree and its time to put that sentiment to rest! I have traveled a good amount in my short life and Tucson has always been one of my favorite places. Now it could simply be because it’s home – my birthplace. But I’m not so sure. In my endeavors to get to know this city I discovered something:

Tucson has a communication problem.

And I think a lot of you will agree with me that his city is filled with talented creators and is rich with culture. Yet, tell me, how many times have you been sitting at home alone on a Friday night with the thought “Is there anything to do in Tucson” or been scrolling on social media, find a cool event only to realize it happened weeks ago. Yeah, me too.

Some of you may know me from SelvesTalking — a podcast where I put a microphone in front of strangers and asked every question the nosy part of me could think of. I did this close to a hundred times. We built something real and impactful… And then life got in the way as it does.

I lost a good friend. The creative fire in me vanished. The world shut down. 

I found my way through it — albeit not so gracefully. I never truly planned to stop completely but with all the twists and turns I couldn’t catch up. So I searched for my meaning elsewhere. But the void that the podcast left in my life kept beckoning me. It was a nagging that just kept itching at me like a melody of a song. Until I finally acknowledged it and realized I still had work to do. But this time I wanted to do it right.

This time I’m not doing it for free. Not doing it on the side. And not doing it alone. 

So here it is:

El Tucsonan is a weekly video podcast where I sit across from the artists, builders, public servants, musicians and everyday people who make this city what it is — and ask the questions everyone wants to ask but nobody does.
